As I sit here in the beautiful state of Washington, I can’t help but pray for the many Christians who are being persecuted in restricted nations around the world.
My heart is stirred for the many who are in prison and they are there only because they believe in the Holy Bible.
Having been many times to closed nations, I have met, first hand, many men and women who have been tortured for their faith in Christ.
I have met the children of martyrs who have no home, I have held little ones who would face certain death if it weren’t for my friends who rescued them in the name of Jesus and gave them a place to stay!
I have been to the villages and seen the scars of men, some missing limbs, some having lost their sight. I have even seen where some have scars where bullets have gone though their bodies, yet miraculously escaped with their families as their homes were set on fire by their tormentors. Their only crime: they profess Jesus to be Lord of their lives.
Yet, God raises up people, even in the middle of the night, to pray and to give so they can be saved; Christians just like you.
If you believe in Jesus, then you are part of the body of Christ. When one feels suffering, we all should rush to aid them. Just as if we stubbed our toe, our whole body would respond to hold it and bring relief to the pain. (I Corinthians 12:12)
Hebrews 13:3 (NIV)
Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
I think of the early church and Paul as he requested prayer while persecuted in prison for his faith:
2 Thessalonians 3:1–2 (NIV)
As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith.
I encourage you to pray! Explore and pray over the people who are represented in this map. Educate yourself beyond your own country. (Map provided by VOM). These are our brothers and sisters in the Lord who need YOU!
Many who have been arrested feel as though the whole world has forgotten them. They are in closed nations where their national media and government deny there is even a problem.
Will you remember them in prayer?
Please pray with me, right now, that our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted and tormented will find peace in the middle of their nightmare. Pray that the Word of God will spread and that they will “be delivered from wicked and evil people”.
